Chichester Market cross was built in 1501 and had been restored many times before Nimbus Conservation was commissioned to complete the restoration and conservation of the north / north east face in 1987. Several quatrefoil panels were completely eroded and in consultation with the architect and archive material new designs were made. Geoffrey Preston Richard Strachy and myself each carved a pair in fine Lepine lime stone from France. Geoffrey and Richard have also gone on to build a good body of fine work in conservation but they are also fine artists and well worth seeking out.
