This was my first public carving carried out for the 1985 Bath Festival. John Jukest organiser and promoter Brian Balls created a competition for six sculptors from Britain and abroad to carve identical blocks of Bath Stone set up in Victoria Park. This created huge interest with many people returning day after day to check progress, pass judgement, and give advice and encouragement. It was a well-organised and very successful event that was funded by the sale of the work afterwards. Because the story of Eve being tempted by the snake was familiar to all I had many lively contributions both theological and anatomical and made many friends over the weeks especially with the masonry apprentices from Bath College who volunteered their help.
