Survey1995
A Large collection of artefacts originating from Bath Abbey were brought together to create a permanent exhibition designed by Ivor Heal in the cellars of what had been Isaac Pitman's print works.(Now the Heritage Vaults.) I was asked by Ivor to prepare and mount many of the pieces representing the history of the site. Above a Saxon frieze. Left,Gilbert Scott's plaster casts.
In 1995 I made a complete survey of the condition of the monuments in the Abbey to go with the existing description and a photographic survey. The picture on the left shows The John Sibthorp Monument (d1796) Depicted as a Botanist in classical style arriving in the Elysian fields. This is marble relief is by John Flaxman friend of William Blake .
