St Mary Marystow
This small figure of the Virgin Mary holding lilies was commissioned to be placed on an existing corbel above the south door inside the church porch. I carved this sculpture from Polyphant stone. (The Polyphant quarries, mostly along the valley of the River Inny in Cornwall have been worked at least since the Norman period and this stone is often found in local churches where it was used for window tracery, fonts and other detailed work. )
