St Philips

Fish and Loaves

After making the little fish and loves sculpture in alabaster for the inside of the church we decided to make a large version out side inviting local people and school children to have a go. The stone was generously donated  and Gerald Addicotte a local farmer delivered it to the front of St Philips Church Odd Down Bath.

Over several weeks people visited and checked the progress. Since it has been finished it has become a local landmark. Saint Philip is the disciple most associated with the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. At this stage in his discipleship he had not grasped the fact that Jesus was the Messiah and Son of God. This miracle was a lesson for all the disciples in faith.
