St. Michael's Primary School
This School in Waterborne Glos. celebrates the festival of Michaelmas. This falls roughly on the autumn equinox in September. The tradition has it that this was when St Michael and Lucifer fought in the battle of the angels and Michael cast Lucifer out of heaven. Local folk lore has it that Lucifer fell into a blackberry bush and caused the fruit to go sour making blackberries unpalatable after Michaelmas. I was asked in summer 2007 to help the talented artists in the school to make two giant puppets to parade to St. Michael's church on the due day.
