Making St. Michael and Lucifer Puppets

I had two groups of children of mixed age and ability all of whom were very keen artists. One group came in the morning and the other in the afternoon. All the children were allotted tasks on the puppet making and when not engaged on this would draw . There were lots of drawing projects based around the history of the equinox festival and including a lot about Celtic culture.  I preformed the giants heads hands and accoutrements in glass fibre and resin. The children modelled the detail and also painted the finished article.  The heads are mounted on a light framework and can swivel,  the arms can be manipulated by out walkers. The figures were clothed in rip stop nylon and decorated with messages  written by every child in the school. The complete figure required seven carriers / operators .
